Floor-based Training for SCI rehab
Exercise progressions for at-home and in-clinic programming
offered as a private workshop for your team
What do you do when a client pops into your schedule and you don’t have time to plan their session?
How can we make programming easy for new trainers?
Is there a way to organize exercises into an effective and progressive system?
If only there was a template or an exercise protocol to follow…
The motor development progression (MDP) offers us a program template that can easily be modified for each individual, saving you time and energy when programming for clients.
-
The basic exercises are tried and true: it’s the same movement progression you used as a child to learn how to walk and move!
Participants will learn the value of MDP and floor-based exercises as they pertain to recovery after SCI. We'll review positions, drills, transitions, and travels inspired by the motor development progression (MDP) and explore how to use this model as a template for building session plans while understanding a system for progression, regression, and customization to each client's needs.
-
With equal parts lecture and lab, we’ll explore each technique and exercise with traditional presentation slides, interactive clinician movement experiences and video examples of real SCI clients.
For in-person workshops: We’ll see the magic unfold in your arranged demo clients in the afternoon.
-
The aim of this ground-up approach is for clients to develop movement patterns, stability, mobility, and strength all proportionally, rather than over-using certain areas and neglecting others.
Your team will finish feeling confident in the trajectory of their rehab programming and have several exercises to assign to clients for their at-home programs/HEP.

-
Short answer, no.
You should carve out 2 hours of your time for this presentation. Cutting this presentation short means you will not be able to fully grasp the nuances and practice the concepts in action with your clients (the application is the best part!)
-
Yes, we’ll work off our base curriculum to place an extra emphasis on the areas you are looking to develop. For example, if you are interested in programming specific for cervical level SCI clients, we’ll spend our time discussing this subset of your clientele and select cervical level demo clients for the lab time.
-
Unfortunately, no. However we can provide certificates of completion for each of your staff to submit for review directly to their board.
